Northern Business Associates was founded in 1985 by LaRue Rocha. The idea for forming the group called Northern Business Associates came from a group that La Rue started when he was in Eureka, California called the The Golden Key Club.

Northern Business Associates originally started with 5 members. It quickly grew to 10 within a matter of 2 months. The group currently averages around 35 members attending each Tuesday morning..

The reason Northern Business Associates exists is to allow members to come together to share business leads so that everyone can benefit from the leads not just a few. That is why our motto is ---"TEAM" which means "Together Each Achieves More". As you may already know we only allow one member representing an industry or category at a time in the group. This creates an environment of coorperation in which members refer leads to the team helping all achieve success.

The first meeting place for Northern Business Associates was in the Board Room upstairs in the office of Carson Neal & Company, An Accountancy Corporation on Redcliff Drive in Redding. Since that time we moved to the Shasta Inn, which is now La Quinta and Cattlemen's. At that time we were averaging around 15 to 20 members in the group. We then migrated over to Marie Calendar's Restaurant when it was built, and met in their atrium dining area. At the time, we were around 35 members strong, which was in 1988. We stayed there for about 4 years. After that we located to the Red Lobster Restaurant on Dana Drive for 8 yrs. We have met at Channel 7-KRCR in their Board Room since the year 2000, but have now exceeded the size limits of their room. We are now meeting at a temporary restaurant location while we seek another long term solution.

One of the unique features of the Northern Business Associates group is that we are almost like family and thus we have two very fun party's every year. One that is usually held in the summertime for families, friends and potential new members and the other in the winter time for couples. We work hard as a group and we also play hard has a group.

We are not just about sharing leads with each other but about helping our community as well. Some of the community events that we have recently been involved with are The Good News Rescue Mission Food Drive, The American Heart Association Golf Tournament and The Cystic Fibrosis Walk on the River Trail. Along with these various non-profit groups that we like to help we are also active with the Redding Chamber of Commerce. Several of the members in the Northern Business Associates are Ambassadors for the Chamber of Commerce.
